Run, White & Blue 5K in Georgetown, Delaware, is just one month away!

RWB-1
Here I am with some free ice cream after finishing the Run, White & Blue 5K in 2016.

Disclaimer: I was offered (and accepted) a free entry to this race in exchange for two blog posts; one in August before the race and one after. Any opinions are my own.

I’m excited to be heading back to the Run, White & Blue 5K at Delaware Technical Community College’s Jack F. Owens Campus just one month from today.

Last year was my first year participating in this race, and I was impressed by the amount of food offerings afterward. That’s something that I love when it comes to a race, and it really helps provide a fun post-race environment, too.

I also had a pretty good race and ended up placing in my age group. This year, all of my 5Ks have been within 31 seconds of each other, ranging from 27:39 to 28:10, but I would love to go under 27 minutes at this year’s Run, White & Blue 5K if it isn’t too hot.

Read my recap of the 2016 race here.

The race is set for Thursday evening, Sept. 7, at the Delaware Technical Community College Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown, according to the race website. The race begins at 6 p.m., with race-day registration starting at 5 p.m. Online registration is also available here.

The Run, White & Blue 5K funds the college’s scholarships for veterans and first responders, according to the race website.

The cost is $25 for adults who sign up by Sept. 4 (the registration fee goes up by $5 after that); $10 for students, military and first responders; and free for children under 5, the race website states.

The event also includes a 1-mile walk. Runners and walkers who register ahead of time will get T-shirts, according to the website, and runners also have a shot at going for awards.

There’s also a race video that can be found on the Run, White & Blue site, along with photos from last year — I even found myself in one of the starting line photos at the edge on the left in a white tank top (marked photo 5/13).

Not a runner or a walker? You can still support the race without even attending as a silent marcher for $25.

Let me know if you plan to join me at this fun event! Here is the registration link.
