The cost can add up when you run a lot of races. Why not take advantage of some fun, community-oriented, free or low-cost events this summer?

Another All-Comers Track Meet is coming up this month, and the dates have recently been released for next month’s Summer Cross Country 5K Series. Both events are in Salisbury, Maryland.
I participated in an earlier All-Comers Track Meet this month — you can read about that experience here — and I expect to be back for the next one. The meet, open to children and adults, is set for 6 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Wicomico County Stadium, according to an event flier. Distances range from the 100-meter dash to the 1600-meter run. It’s a free event.
Having been a past participant in the Summer Cross Country 5K Series — you can read about that experience here — I received an email about this year’s races from Jim Jones, who coaches cross country and track and field at Salisbury University. (But you don’t have to be a college athlete, or near their caliber, to participate!)
This year’s races will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 15, at WinterPlace Park in Salisbury, according to the email. It’s $5 per race with registration starting at 8 a.m. on each race day, and the race helps the Wicomico Friends of Recreation & Parks, according to the email.
If you would like an entry form, feel free to email me at vanessa.junkin@gmail.com, and I’ll forward it to you.
I’m planning to be at least one of the Summer Cross Country 5K Series races — maybe both.
