Looking for a race this November? Here are the remaining non-Thanksgiving races this month that I know of locally. Thanksgiving-themed races will be the topic of the next post.
Rehoboth Beach Running Co. Skirt Chaser 10 Miler: Will the men catch the women, or will the women prevail? That’s to be seen in the Rehoboth Beach Running Co. Skirt Chaser 10 Miler, which is set for this Saturday, Nov. 15.
According to the Seashore Striders event page, women will kick off the race from outside the Rehoboth Beach Running Company — which is located in the Shops at the Pearl in downtown Rehoboth Beach, Delaware — at 8 a.m., with the men starting 8 minutes and 30 seconds later, at 8:08:30. The course will close at 10 a.m., according to the event Web page.
The awards will not be given in the traditional male and female age groups; males and females will be competing together for the Top 3 overall and age group awards, the event Web page states.
As it is so close to race day, it is probably safest to sign up on-site; registration begins at 7 a.m. and is $65, according to the website.

Colonel’s Challenge 5K/12K/1 Mile Fun Walk: Also being timed by the Seashore Striders this weekend is the Colonel’s Challenge 5K/12K/1 Mile Fun Walk in Preston, Maryland, which is sponsored by the Colonel Richardson High School Alumni Association and aids a scholarship fund.
That’s according to the Seashore Striders event page, which also says the event begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at James T. Wright Memorial Park in Preston. The address is listed on the site, 110 Back Landing Road, is as the same as the Preston Lions Club Park.
The website does not say if there is race-day registration, so you may want to double check if you are interested in participating. (Sorry for the late notice!)
Late registration costs are $25 for the 5K and $30 for the 12K — or $10 for students, with no shirt included. An online registration link appears to still be open and can be accessed here — the lower rates of $20 for the 5K and for the walk and $25 for the 12K are still listed on there.

Redneck Romp: A new race coming to the Eastern Shore of Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 29, is the Redneck Romp, which includes a 10-miler and 5K.
The race begins at 9:30 a.m., with race-day registration lasting from 7-8:45 a.m. and a pre-race meeting at 9 a.m., according to a schedule on the race website.
To register, fill out this registration form and send it in with a check to Redneck Romp, PO Box 45, Accomac, Va. 23301.
Early fees are in effect through Nov. 15: $40 for the 10-miler or $30 for the 5K, according to the registration form. After Nov. 15, those costs go up to $50 and $35, respectively, the form states.
The race benefits Waste Watchers of the Eastern Shore.
