Gear Review: Handful Y-Back Bra is marathon-approved (+ discount code)

I received my Handful Y-Back Bra in the midst of marathon training, and after some long runs in the sports bra, I wore it for the Publix Atlanta Marathon last weekend.

I very rarely run in just a sports bra, so this was after a run with a shirt on, but I figured I should show how the Y-Back Bra fits.

I’m happy to report that I made it through the marathon with hardly any chafing! I often have pretty bad chafing issues and still have some scars from my chafing at the Marine Corps Marathon in October. I think I had some underarm chafing in Atlanta, but I didn’t have any chafing that impeded my run, and I didn’t have any sports bra chafing.

The sports bra I decided to wear for 26.2 miles through Atlanta was the Handful Y-Back Bra, which I received in the pretty Eclipse color. It wasn’t my first time testing a Handful product for my blog. As part of The Running Event, I received a Y-Back Bra in a different color and the Squeeze Play leggings, and I also tested The Closer Bra.

The Y-Back Bra, which I also wore for the RRCA Club Challenge, is made of a comfortable fabric and has removable pads. For now, I’ve left the pads in, because they haven’t come out yet in the wash, but I also wear bras without the pads.

I’ve been remeasured since my last sports bra blog post after finding that some of my regular bras didn’t fit as well as they used to, so now my size is a 36DD. I got a medium in the Y-Back Bra, the size I have in my other Handful bras. There are measurements listed on the Handful website, but I don’t always measure myself before buying clothes online. So, if you’re like me, there’s a note on the website: “Not sure? Your t-shirt size is your Handful® size.”

In my experience, this bra hasn’t been too tough to get on or off, either — something that can be a problem at times with sports bras.

Before wearing the bra during my marathon, I also wore it for a 16-mile training run that was split into two parts (the Blades trail and Snow Hill) and a 14-mile training run. I’ve worn it for shorter runs, too.

I like the fit of the Handful Y-Back Bra, and I think it provides good support for running.

Check out my post about The Closer bra, too!

The Y-Back Bra is $56, but with the discount, that price comes down to $44.80. There’s also a new color called Ripple Effect that I love!

  1. Sounds like a great item! I’m not hugely endowed, but sometimes getting those sports bras off after a long run or super sweaty workout is next to impossible LOL
