Want to race me as a chicken? Run the Chase the Chicken 3K Fun Run/Walk!

Here I am at last year’s Chase the Chicken 3K Fun Run/Walk with fellow chicken Derek.

For the second year, I’ll be dressing up as a chicken to take part in the Chase the Chicken 3K Fun Run/Walk at the Wicomico County Fair.

Most participants are encouraged to dress up in farmer or egg costumes, but I’m one of the chickens that people will be chasing during the run.

I did this last year for the inaugural year of the race, and you can read all about that in my recap here.

How did I get this unique role? I work as a marketing and public relations manager for Wicomico County Recreation, Parks & Tourism, which partners with the Wicomico Farm and Home Show on this event.

The shirt deadline is approaching on Aug. 4, so get your registration in before then to make sure you get a race shirt.

Here are other important details for the 2019 Chase the Chicken 3K Fun Run/Walk:

  • Date: Saturday, Aug. 17
  • Time: Check-in and registration open at 8 a.m., race begins at 9 a.m.
  • Location: WinterPlace Park, 6737 Blue Ribbon Road, Salisbury, MD 21804 (go to the pavilion)
  • Fees: Early registration: $20/adult and $15/kid 12 and under. Race day registration: $25/runner. Kids 5 and under are free with the purchase of an adult registration.

And the prize for beating the chicken? Actual chicken! Winners get a chicken dinner from the Lions Club’s 5-foot fry pan.
