Global Running Day a success

Even though I run all the time, Global Running Day is still exciting. I am really into Twitter, and #GlobalRunningDay is just a fun day to be on social media.

This year, it was on Wednesday, June 1.

The #runchat account (@TheRunChat) was posting running questions every hour, and I took my break from work at 2 p.m. so I could participate in the Global Running Day chat being hosted by @RunnersWorld, @nyrr and @bartyasso.

I had set up a Global Running Day run for the Eastern Shore Running Club for 7 p.m. Wednesday by Ben’s Red Swings at the Salisbury City Park. I wore my ESRC shirt and a bib I’d printed out from the Brooks Running website.

I am so happy we had a great turnout. I got there early, and there were already people ready to run. We ended up with a total of 14 people, including me, and I was happy that there were a variety of paces. There was even a young girl there doing her first running event, which was cool. It was definitely a fun group.

I ended up doing the majority of the run with a fellow blogger, Kristen Jones of Jonesin’ for a Run.

After the run, I decided to check out some of the deals she had posted on her blog. I ended up buying the Sprint Shorts she recommended and two tanks from Augusta Active. I was pleasantly surprised that the site seemed very affordable. The regular price of the tanks was only $7.99. And, there was an additional 30 percent discount. Even with shipping, my total came in at $31.13.
