I have started streaking!

Yeah, I know, there are plenty of streaking jokes to be told; I felt like I just had to put one in the headline. Of course, the type of streak I have started is a running streak.

I made this collage of my Memorial Day run using the PicStitch app — clockwise from top left, the Memorial Plaza sign, a selfie of me after finishing the run and a view of the Wicomico War Veterans Memorial. (Vanessa Junkin photo)

I saw an Instagram post about the Runner’s World #RWRunStreak yesterday and decided spontaneously to do the streak.

I already planned to run today, Memorial Day, as I was off work. Then, I have group Eastern Shore Running Club runs Tuesday and Wednesday. (Wednesday is Global Running Day.)

I planned to do a donut run Friday for National Donut Day, and then I’m racing the Baltimore 10-Miler on Saturday. So, that makes the first week pretty easy; I’ll just have to add in a slow mile on Thursday.

All the details about the #RWRunStreak are here. It started today (you still have time!) and goes until the Fourth of July.

Per the streak rules, I’ll be running a mile or more each day. I did my first running streak last year, running every day of June. (Read about that here.)

I started it off with a six-miler today, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the streak. Hopefully it will be fun and keep me accountable!
