The fact that my new job collided with running pretty early on is pretty amazing.
I have been the assistant director of marketing and public relations for Wicomico County Recreation, Parks & Tourism for two months, and one of the earliest assignments I was given was to work to promote the Run to Remember Memorial Day 5K.
The race is Saturday, May 28, outside the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, and it’s to support the Wicomico War Veterans Memorial. If you sign up by this Friday, May 6, you can guarantee that you’ll get a shirt. It’s a tech shirt, and the shirt design is the picture on the Web page — this design will be on the back — and you can also get more information there.
The race begins at 9 a.m., with check-in and registration starting at 8 a.m. It’s $25 in advance, $30 the day of the race, or $20 the day of the race if you have a military ID.

Even though I’m basically a Twitter addict, somehow I didn’t realize there was a GIF keyboard until relatively recently, so I have been having fun finding running-related and fun GIFs to put with my posts about this race on that platform.
Since I’m a runner, it makes me even more determined to do what I can to help bring in a great turnout for this race. It’s for a good cause, and you’ll probably enjoy knowing you got a good run in before you head to those Memorial Day barbecues.
