I’m excited to be back for the third year as a St. Michaels Running Festival ambassador!
The race isn’t till May, but in my opinion, it’s never too early to start thinking about future races. It’s exciting to plan what and where you’re going to run, and it’s generally more affordable to sign up for races further in advance. Plus, there’s a little thing called training involved.
Yesterday, Sept. 18, marked eight months until the 2019 St. Michaels Running Festival. The race is May 18, 2019.
The town of St. Michaels is a pretty Eastern Shore town, and to get there from the main highway, Route 50, you head east toward the Chesapeake Bay. It’s also very flat. My watch only logged 52 feet of elevation gain on the 13.1-mile course this year, and I live in a flat area, so I can feel every incline. Trust me — this course is definitely flat.
I had a good race this year at St. Michaels, hitting a 2:12 time after three 2:14 finishes in half marathons prior to that. Read about my experience here. There was even a fun band with a dance party afterward.

Through Nov. 5, the rate for the half marathon is $75 — but with my ambassador code, “AMBJUNK,” you can save $10, bringing that down to $65. There’s also a 5K, currently priced at $35, and a kids’ fun run, priced at $25. The discount code is just for the half marathon.
The price increases in increments over time, so why not register now and get in for $65? Get a 2019 race on your calendar now, and start working toward a goal.
Race Details:
St. Michaels Running Festival
Date: May 18, 2019
Time: Runners must be in the start area at 7 a.m. Half marathon waves start at 7:10 a.m. The 5K starts at 7:35 a.m. The kids’ run starts at 11:15 a.m. at the finish line.
Half Marathon and 5K Start: St. Michaels Middle High School, 200 Seymour Ave., St. Michaels, Maryland
Finish: Fremont Street, St. Michaels, Maryland
Cost: $65 for the half marathon with discount code “AMBJUNK,” $35 for the 5K or $25 for the kids’ fun run
You can pick up your packet either the day before the race from 3:30-8:30 p.m., get it on race morning, or have your bib mailed to you for $15. Whatever you decide, but particularly if you’re picking up your packet on race morning, I’d suggest arriving early because of race-day traffic and parking.
Hope to see you there! And be sure to check out my recap from 2017, too.
Once it gets closer, I’ll write more about my goals for this race. I haven’t decided what my spring plans will be, but if I’m not running a spring marathon, I will probably try to work on getting my half marathon time closer to that 2:00 mark.

A flat course sounds miraculous to me as I can’t escape hills where I live:(

It’s the opposite where I live! I’m training for a hilly race now, and I’ve been having to find hills to run up and down!
