I’m excited for another race opportunity to literally run by the seashore — at the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach half marathon! I got to run this race for BibRave last year, and I am thankful to have that opportunity again this year. I also have a discount code for you for the half marathon, so be sure to keep reading.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach race weekend includes a 5K and Mile in the Sand on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday. It’s Labor Day weekend and definitely makes for a nice beach weekend.
Plenty of music, a fun beach atmosphere, a beachfront finish on the Boardwalk and a party on the sand afterward are all part of the half marathon. Check out the course here.
The course was flat, aside from a bridge we went up on the way out and back. I felt good about my performance last year, and hopefully I’ll be able to be even faster this year. To read more about my experience last year, check out my blog post and BibRave review.
As I mentioned in my blog post on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Washington, D.C., half marathon, which I’ll also be running for BibRave this year, Rock ‘n’ Roll is making some fun changes to its series for 2018.
Read about the 2018 Experience and watch a video here. You can also see a Virginia Beach-specific video here.
In addition to the bands along the course, there’s a headliner after the half marathon (not announced yet), and half marathon and 5K runners can get into the American Music Festival Sunday night concert for free, which I took advantage of with my friends last year. (Read more here.)
Part of the 2018 Experience is more music, including coming from the mile markers! Be sure to take this quiz, too, so you can start training with one of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series’ Spotify playlists.

So, here are the details:

A photo of the half marathon medal hasn’t been released yet, but one of the Remix medal has! If you run one of the Saturday races along with the half marathon, see what you can earn here.
I did sign up as a Heavy Medalist since I plan to run two Rock ‘n’ Roll races this year, and I stumbled across perks for people who plan to run three or more Rock ‘n’ Roll events during 2018. From extra beer (3 races) with steps (6 events, 10 events) leading up to Hall of Fame Status (15 events), there are some cool things you can earn. Check them all out here.
