Although we’re in the second half of June, I now have some time to recap my May running. Overall, it was a good month.
- I ran 83 miles. This included a marathon early on, six days of rest, and then nothing longer than five miles at once after the marathon.
- I ran my monthly 1600-meter run in 8:08. This was my fastest of the year, but stay tuned for my next post!
- I ran one race — a marathon. This was the Providence Marathon on May 7. I didn’t run as fast as I’d hoped, as it was a warm day for early May. However, I finished another marathon in my 12th state!
- I ran in one other new-to-me place. In addition to the marathon and a shakeout run the day before in Providence, Rhode Island, I also got in a run in Asbury Park, N.J.
- I did a fun-shaped run. I ran a crab-shaped course with Delmarva She Runs This Town.
- I did a Memorial Day run for Pfc. Richard Coleman. As I’ve done for the past few years, I signed up to run for a fallen service member on Memorial Day. This year’s Hero Match was Pfc. Richard Coleman, who was killed at age 19 during the Vietnam War on March 29, 1966.
- I did six DribbleUp classes. After my marathon and the break afterward, I decided that with no big races on the horizon, it would be a good time to start doing more strength work, so I did six DribbleUp classes with my six-pound ball. This turned out to be a great decision — I can tell it’s helping my running. Somehow I only did one yoga class in May, but I’ve done many more in June, and I did do my first sound bath.
