It’s been a hot summer. And it could be that it’s always this hot, and I just forget after each cold winter. But I’ve certainly done a lot of hot and humid runs this season.
I think Detach helped. It’s described as “Coconut Water Evolved,” and it had a lemon-lime flavor. Lemon-lime usually isn’t my go-to flavor, but I did enjoy this drink, although it was a little different than what I’m used to.
I don’t normally drink coconut water, either, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I would say this seemed a little thicker than plain water — but not in a bad way, just something to adjust to a little bit, and a little more like juice. However, there are only 60 calories in a bottle, which is probably less than most juices.
I received six bottles of Detach (and it’s possible I may receive more through BibRave at a later point), and it seemed like the drink made the heat a little bit more bearable. I drank my last bottle earlier this month, but I recently ordered a case of 12 bottles with the BibRave discount I’m sharing with you — you can get a free case and just pay $14.95 shipping by using the code “BIBRAVE” or visiting this link.
When testing Detach, I more often started out my run by drinking the Detach, but I also drank a bottle ahead of the Naylor Mill 7K. On the bottle, it says “Your Smart Pre-Activity Choice.” I remember there was another day I drank a bottle of it at work. I like to hydrate with electrolytes prior to long runs, although I can’t recall exactly what workout that would have been before.
I’m not a scientist, doctor or someone who normally reads food labels too carefully, so I normally would choose to use an athletic-type drink for taste and how it helps me perform. But the Detach website says in addition to electrolytes, the drink includes beta-alanine for muscles, citrulline for blood vessels and blood flow, and theanine for mental benefits. Read more here.
In addition to helping your own body, you can also feel good knowing that Detach donates to charities. Read more here.
I drank Detach on long runs, before a long-for-me bike ride (which was followed by a run) and before the aforementioned race. I’m looking forward to receiving my next case so that I can keep drinking it.
It probably isn’t something I would have picked out at the store because I don’t normally gravitate toward coconut water, so I’m really glad I had the opportunity to try something new.
Want to get a 12-bottle case of Detach for the cost of just shipping, $14.95? That’s only a little more than a dollar per bottle. Click here to have the code automatically applied, or use code “BIBRAVE.”
